Are You Willing to Drop It All When God Tells You to Take That Step of Faith?

let me ask you something real.

What would you do if God told you to drop everything and move? Not figuratively—like literally pack your life up, leave everything familiar, and go somewhere you’ve never been?

Sounds wild, right? I know. But that’s exactly what my husband and I have been walking through for over a decade now. Since the day we said “I do” back in 2013, God has repeatedly asked us to do things that don’t make sense on paper. Steps that look straight-up crazy to the world. We’ve had to learn how to trust Him beyond what we could see.

In 2015, we felt the nudge to leave Atlanta. That nudge turned into confirmation through prayer and fasting, and before we knew it, we were packing our lives into a trailer and driving to Phoenix, Arizona. A place we didn't visit before we moved. No family there. Just a word from God. We left our comfort zone and followed His voice.

And let me tell you—He met us there. Through a random Facebook connection, we were introduced to a couple who had also taken a similar faith journey. They opened their home to us like we were family. God was already setting things in motion the moment we said “yes.”

Then 2020 came. Yep, the pandemic year. And guess what? God told us to move again—to California. One of the most expensive places to live… with only the promise of a part-time income.

Like, what?! But we obeyed. And y’all—God provided. We never missed a bill or a meal. Not one.

Then 2023 hit, and God told us to leave California. But this time, He didn’t say where we were going. Now that’ll mess with your faith! After researching and praying over several different states-We started feeling like it could maybe be Florida, but nothing was working out. So, we moved back to Georgia, stayed with our parents, and waited. Eventually, the doors opened in Florida. But whew… the waiting season was no joke.

I know this sounds like a whole lot. And to be honest, our friends and family probably thought we lost it. And sometimes? We wondered the same. But even in our uncertainty, we kept feeling that nudge. And the fruit from every single move has confirmed God was in it.

Now don’t get it twisted. We’re not some fearless superheroes over here. Nope. Every time God told us to move, we were scared out of our minds. No plan, sometimes no jobs, no clue where we’d end up. Just us, a suitcase full of dreams, and shaky faith in a faithful God. We were trembling in our Nikes, but we kept stepping.

Here’s what I’ve learned about faith:

You don’t have to have all the answers. You just need to follow the One who does.

So let me ask you this:

Is God nudging you to make a move? It might not be to a new state. Maybe it’s to forgive someone. Maybe it’s to step back into church. Maybe it’s starting that business or writing that book or ending that toxic relationship.

Whatever it is—are you willing to trust Him, even if it doesn’t make sense?

Are you willing to look a little crazy?

Are you willing to leave what’s comfortable?

Are you willing to obey, even if you’re scared?

Because here’s what I’ve learned over these last 10+ years of wild, sometimes terrifying, but always fruitful faith steps:

1. God just needs your “yes.” Obedience is your part. Provision is His.

2. God is faithful. He will show up always

3. Your story matters. Somebody needs to hear what God’s brought you through.

4. Not everyone will get it—and that’s okay. Your obedience isn’t for their understanding.

5. Stay close to God. Let His voice be louder than your fear.

6. Expect opposition. Faith steps shake hell’s foundation.

7. There’s something greater on the other side of your obedience

8. Everyone can’t handle your vision. Share it with those led by the Spirit, not their insecurities.

9. Get out of your own way. This isn’t about your ability—it’s about God’s.

10. Hard doesn’t mean God isn’t with you.

11. Keep going. It’s bigger than you

12. Document the process—video, journal, whatever. One day, this story will encourage someone else.

13. God won’t give you the full picture. You’ve got to take it one step at a time.

14. Be honest with God. He can handle your confusion, your fear, your excitement—

all of it.

So, friend, if you’re standing at the edge of a decision that feels scary, but you can’t shake the feeling that God is calling you… take the step.

You might be shaking. You might not have a plan. But if He’s in it, you’re going to see fruit that only faith can grow.

we are rooting for you.

Always.
